Testing
To test the clamping force, a spring gauge will be required to check how much force is needed to create the desired amount of force that will be needed to hold the device in place.
-
Calculated values were that the toggle clamps would hold a 20-pound load with only a 28.8 pound clamping force. The toggle clamps that were bought are capable of 350 pounds of force.
-
The toggle clamps that were chosen were adequate for the test and provide a pressure that holds the casting in place.
A scale will be necessary to check the overall weight of the mount.
-
Final weight turned out to be 6.45 pounds, and was calculated as 6.29 pounds.
-
Larger bolts than anticipated accounted for the weight.
-
Still under 10 lb limit for the jig.
